At Spacelab we make websites for creative people. Artists and artisans, groups and troupes, startups and sole traders - in short, people who do interesting things.
Whatever field of the arts you are in, whatever craft, performance or design discipline you practice, we can help you get it across online. Our goal is to help people who care about beauty and the meaning of the visual to present their work in the best possible light.
Be it music, food, painting, theatre, jewellery, architecture, tattoos, gardening... You name it!
And that means the way you want it to be represented. We work with you, to understand your sense of style, to represent your work to the world in the way that you want it to be seen. We don't have packages we try to fit you into, we make sites to fit. This is web design at its most individual and customised.
So naturally we cater to every level of budget. Perhaps you just need to display your work in a simple gallery to let the world know it exists. Maybe you are ready to make sales online in a sophisticated shop and take bookings for workshops or performances. Possibly you want to present video, music or animation. Whatever your needs, from the minimal to the highly technical, we can craft a solution for you.
We can also help you with the creation of media for your site - e.g., photographing your work, or editing images that you have - as well as with writing or editing text content for you. We can help with your social media too, so that they link up seamlessly with your site. And of course we cover the technical issues like support, backup and security, as well as tuning your site to make sure it does as well as possible in search results.
Other services we offer include hosting your site at a really reasonable rate, and if you need it, helping you find your ideal domain name.
If you need a site that has some online business aspect such as sales, or want to add that to your existing site, you may qualify for Trading Online Vouchers ("LEO Vouchers"), a government scheme to support businesses entering the world of Web commerce. We can help you apply for this funding; see more on our Information page.
Based in Galway on the west coast of Ireland, where time-honoured arts and today's tech sector rub shoulders every day, Spacelab was started by cartoonist Richard Chapman, whose interest in the Web began back when he first wanted to get his own artwork online.
Bitten by the bug, he went on to do a Master of Science degree in Information Systems Management - in which he attained first class honours. He has also gained qualifications in PHP programming, and is an Oracle-certified database developer.
Richard continues to work in cartoon, appearing in satirical publications internationally. He is one of the founders of the Galway Cartoon Festival.
